Throughout the space age from the earliest days to today there have been great advancements made through the civil and national security space programs. The area of greatest joint impact has been on education and the industrial base as new technologies were developed and matured to address the challenges of each era. Today a revolution is taking place in terms of technology, tools, and the development of a vibrant commercial sector. Please join us this month when Dr. Chris Scolese, Director of the National Reconnaissance Office (and 1978 graduate of the University at Buffalo) will discuss how we can progress to a more capable future in space.

Dr. Scolese is the 19th director of the NRO and the first to be presidentially appointed and senate confirmed. He previously had a 25-year career at NASA, serving in numerous roles at the Goddard Space Flight Center as well as Chief Engineer, Associate Administrator and Acting Administrator at NASA Headquarters before retiring from NASA as Director of the Goddard Space Flight Center. In addition to his B.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from SUNY Buffalo he holds an M.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from George Washington University and a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from George Washington University.
